An update on COVID-19 Vaccines:
From what we are seeing in the news, there was a recommendation from Operation Warp Speed to states to move more quickly to the next phases for vaccine allocation. It’s not clear what that will mean for individual states, as it is a recommendation and not a requirement.
We are in vaccine distribution Phase 1A. That means vaccines are only available to healthcare personnel and adult residents of long-term care facilities.
If you are our patient, and in Phase 1B or 1C, we will reach out to you as we know more information. We have received no new information on how and when our high risk patients can get vaccinated.
It is estimated that vaccines won’t be available to the general public until late spring or early summer of 2021, which is when BMC is expected to receive it. Once they are available, getting your COVID-19 vaccine will be similar to how you get your flu vaccine. Rather than having mass clinics for a large amount of people (like we did for H1N1), state-approved healthcare providers will dispense the vaccine to each population type outlined for each phase of vaccine distribution.
Please ensure that your contact information is up-to-date in order to receive communications regarding this vaccine. If you do not have a patient portal and you are a patient at Blue Mountain Clinic, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and request a Portal Sign-Up Link.
