We mourn with the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others who have been brutally killed at the hands of police due to the color of their skin.
Racial injustice limits access to quality health care in the family medicine setting, leading to poor health outcomes in Black communities. This also creates severe disparities in access to abortion care, reproductive care, and birth control. We are committed to providing family medical care to our community, and remaining an accessible resource for abortion, birth control, and sexual health.
We recognize the part we as health care providers play in systemic racism, and commit to actively amplifying the voices of Black, Native American, LGBTQ, housing insecure, and marginalized communities and individuals. It is our privilege to listen to those voices, and to amplify them to demand an end to racial injustice.
Blue Mountain Clinic strongly condemns police violence and brutality. We stand in solidarity with our Black patients, friends, colleagues and family. We stand with leaders of the American Academy of Family Medicine, NARAL Pro-Choice America, The University of Montana, Planned Parenthood of Montana, Partnership Health Center, and the Family Medicine Residency of Western Montana in recognizing racism as a public health crisis, and striving to do better. We affirm the rights of those in our community and across the country who gather to peacefully protest injustice.
